Secret Santa wishlist

In short. Find out the budget and add 3–5 wishes within it to a GIFTbase list. Send the link to the organizer to pass on to your Santa, or straight to your Santa if the draw is open. The page opens without an account. No time for a list? Answer the questionnaire below; it gives your Santa a direction.

Why your Santa needs your list

Right on budget

Every wish fits the game's limit, so your Santa doesn't have to guess what to spend.

The secret stays secret

Your Santa opens the link in a browser without an account, and you won't know who they are until the exchange.

Easy for the organizer

Participants' links gather in one place and are easy to hand out.

A gift you'll use

Your Santa picks from things you need, and generic trinkets stay on the shelf.

Where to find gifts under $15, $25 and $50

Marketplaces work well for Secret Santa: lots of good things on a small budget. A link shows the photo and price right away.

A gift card for a coffee shop or bookstore can go on the list as a link too.

How to write a Secret Santa wishlist

Five minutes, tops.

  1. Check the budget and date

Usually $15, $25 or $50. The limit decides what goes on the list.

  2. Add 3–5 wishes

Mix the types: something tasty, something useful, something for a hobby. All within the budget.

  3. Send the link

To the organizer if the draw is secret: they'll pass the link to your Santa.

Secret Santa questionnaire: 12 questions

No time for a wishlist? Answer these and send them to the organizer. Or use them as prompts for what to add to your list.

  1. What do you drink every day: coffee, tea, hot chocolate?
  2. Sweet or salty?
  3. What do you do on weekends?
  4. What's your hobby, or what do you want to learn?
  5. Favorite color?
  6. Do you collect anything, or want to?
  7. Any allergies or foods you avoid?
  8. Cozy, practical or funny: which is more you?
  9. Favorite book, show or game?
  10. Scents you love, and scents you can't stand?
  11. Your size, if socks or a hat are fair game?
  12. What should your Santa definitely not buy?

Secret Santa wishlist questions

Three to five wishes within the budget, mixed by type: something tasty, something useful, something for a hobby. Add your size if you're asking for socks or a hat, and say what not to buy.

Send the link to the organizer, who passes it to your Santa. Your Santa opens the list in a browser without an account, and you won't know who they are until the exchange.

Stick to things under $15: coffee or tea samplers, chocolate, socks, stickers. The stocking stuffer collection below has more small ideas.

A short set of questions about a participant's tastes: what they drink, what they're into, what not to buy. It helps when there's no wishlist. Twelve ready questions are above.

If only your Santa sees the list, no. Reservations help when you send the same list to family for Christmas: then gifts won't overlap.

You can, but a short list within the budget is easier for a Santa. If your main list is long, make a separate one with three to five items.
