Birthday wishlist
A list of gifts you actually want: guests reserve them from one link, so nobody brings the same mug. Below: an example, ideas and messages for guests.
- Free
- Right in your browser
- Sign in with Google or Apple

In short. To make a birthday wishlist, open GIFTbase right here on the website or in the free app, add 10–15 wishes by pasting links from Amazon, Target, Etsy or any other store, and share one link with your guests. The list opens in any browser without an account, and guests reserve gifts right on the page. By default you don't see what's been reserved, so the surprise lasts until the party.

No app needed
Your wishlist, right here in your browser
Make your list on this website: sign in with Google or Apple and start adding wishes. It's the same account as the GIFTbase app, so you can pick up on your phone anytime.
- Paste a link from Amazon, Target or any store, and the photo and price fill in on their own
- Send friends one link, and the list opens without signing up
- Friends reserve gifts, and you won't know who picked what
Why a birthday wishlist works
Nobody has to guess
“What do you want for your birthday?” gets answered with one link. Even the coworker you only see at the coffee machine picks something useful.
Big stores and tiny shops together
Headphones from Amazon, a print from an Etsy artist, sneakers from Nike: any link works.
Reservations stop duplicates
A reserved wish is marked for every guest, so two copies of the same board game never meet at your party.
Free for everyone
The list, reservations and the guest page cost nothing. You create the list here or in the app; guests just need a browser.
Where birthday wishes usually come from
Most birthday lists mix marketplace finds, clothes and a few things for hobbies. Paste a link and the card fills in the title, photo and price; if a store doesn't share them, type them in.
Amazon
Etsy
Target
Apple
Nike
Uniqlo
Steam
LEGO
A gift card page, concert tickets or a class booking work too.
How to make a birthday wishlist in 4 steps
About ten minutes from an empty list to a link in the party chat, if you already know what you want.
Start a list with the date
Create a wishlist in GIFTbase and give it a clear name, like “Maya's birthday, March 12”, so guests know what it's for and when.
Add 10–15 wishes
Paste links from stores and the photo and price come in on their own. Use the note for size, color or “any of these three models is fine”.
Check the price spread
Aim for a few things under $20, several around $30–60 and one big dream, so every guest finds something in their budget.
Share the link
Copy the list's link and send it to the party chat two to three weeks ahead. Guests reserve without signing up.
Birthday wishlist example: 12 wishes
Here's what an easy-to-shop list looks like: small things up to one big dream, each with the details a guest needs.
- Insulated travel mug, 12 oz, black, fits a car cup holder — about $25
- “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir, hardcover — about $20
- Whole-bean coffee from a favorite roaster, 12 oz — $18
- Wool socks, size M — $22
- Candle in fig or cedar, nothing sweet — $30
- Two-player board game: “Patchwork” or “Jaipur” — $25–30
- Cotton throw, 50 × 60 in, gray or oatmeal — about $45
- Wireless earbuds for running with ear hooks — $60–90
- Massage or spa gift card — $80
- Two concert tickets, band and date in the note — about $120
- Burr coffee grinder — $100, a nice one to split
- Dream: a robot vacuum that mops — $300, perfect for a group gift
Every wish has a size, color or model, so nobody needs to ask. Prices run from $18 to $300, and the big dream sits at the end: several friends can go in on it, and the reservation shows everyone it's taken.
What to put on a birthday wishlist
The rule of thumb for most lists: 10–15 wishes across budgets, so every guest finds their price.
Small things under $25
Fun socks, a favorite coffee, a paperback, a candle, a phone accessory. Coworkers and acquaintances usually pick these.
The sweet spot, $30–75
A thermos, headphones, a board game, a gift card to your favorite place, a skincare set. Most friends land here.
One big dream
A robot vacuum, an espresso machine, a course, a trip. Put it on the list and let a group chip in.
Experiences
A class, a spa day, tickets, dinner out. They take up no shelf space and stay in memory longer.
Birthday wishlist ideas by category
If your list is stuck, walk through these groups and grab what you've been wanting.
Home and cozy
Throw blanket, diffuser, nice everyday dishes, a breakfast tray, a plant in a good pot, a night light, sateen sheets, kitchen organizers.
Tech
Wireless earbuds, a smart speaker, a power bank, an e-reader, an instant photo printer, a coffee grinder, a robot vacuum.
Beauty and self-care
A gift card to a favorite beauty store, a face or neck massager, a hair dryer or styler, a bath set, home fragrance.
Hobbies
Board games, LEGO for adults, a 1,000-piece puzzle, a drawing or embroidery kit, hiking gear, books by a favorite author.
Fitness
A fitness tracker, a yoga mat, a water bottle, a foam roller, a month at the pool or gym.
Food and drink
Specialty coffee or tea, a cocktail kit, cheese and snacks for the party, a cooking class, dinner at a restaurant on your list.
Experiences
Concert or theater tickets, an escape room, a pottery class, indoor skydiving, a weekend away, a spa day.
How to send your wishlist: 3 ready messages
It only feels awkward for five seconds; after that, guests thank you for not making them guess. Copy and adjust.
To the friends' group chat
“Hey all, to save you the guesswork I made a birthday wishlist. Prices and links are there, and reservations show up for everyone, so nobody doubles up: [link]”
To parents and family
“Mom, Dad, you asked what I want. Here's the list. Pick anything; I won't see what you chose, so it stays a surprise: [link]”
To coworkers
“Thanks for thinking of me! If it's easier to go in on one thing together, here's my list, and you can see what's already taken: [link]”
Gift finder
Friend's birthday and no wishlist?

The GIFTbase finder works from a description
Describe the birthday person: age, interests, what they've been into lately, and your budget. In a couple of minutes the finder suggests 10 ideas with prices and links to stores in their city.
Save the one you like to your “to give” list, and nudge your friend to make a wishlist before the next birthday.

Birthday wishlist questions
Ten to fifteen wishes at different prices: three or four small things under $25, six to eight in the $30–75 range, one big dream and a couple of experiences. Add the model, size or color and a link to each, so guests don't have to ask. There's a 12-item example above.
Create a list right here (sign in with Google or Apple) or in the GIFTbase app for iPhone and Android, add wishes by link and tap Share. Guests get a page on giftbase.app that opens in any browser. Nobody pays anything, you or your guests.
Two to three weeks before the party, so guests have time to choose and shipping has time to arrive. For a kid's party, send it about a month ahead: other parents plan early.
Frame it as a favor to your guests: one line in the party chat, or a reply to “what do you want?”. Most people are relieved they don't have to guess. Three ready-to-send messages are above.
Yes, a reserved wish is marked for everyone who opens the list. As the birthday person you don't see reservations by default, which keeps gifts a surprise. If you'd rather see them, turn off Secret booking in the list settings.
Yes. Agree in the party chat: one person reserves the big wish and collects everyone's share. The reservation shows the other guests it's handled.
Gift cards, yes: add a link to the store's gift card page. GIFTbase doesn't move money, so if you're saving for something big, add it as a wish and say in the note that contributions of any size are welcome.
