FAQ

How do I draw Secret Santa names online?

Create a game and send the link or code to everyone; each person joins from their own phone. Once everyone is in, tap “Draw names now” and each player sees only their own recipient.

Is it free?

Yes. Creating a game, joining, writing wishes and drawing names are free, with no sign-up.

Do I need to install an app?

No, the game works in the browser. The GIFTbase app has the same features plus gift ideas for your recipient.

Will the host know who gifts whom?

Only if the host turns that on when creating the game. By default nobody sees the pairs, the host included.

Can two people draw each other?

No. The draw puts everyone in one circle: the first gives to the second, the second to the third, and the last to the first, so there are no mutual pairs. Couples can be kept apart too: players tick “we’re a couple”, and the host can set who can’t draw whom.

How many people can play?

From three to three hundred.

How do I get back to the game from another phone?

With the personal key shown after you create or join a game. Save it as an image or copy it.

Do I need everyone’s email address?

No. Players join with a link or a six-character game code, and nobody enters an email address or creates a password.

Can we play if we live in different cities?

Yes. The host sets gifts to go to a pickup point or by post; everyone adds their own address, and only their Secret Santa sees it. Addresses are deleted 30 days after the exchange.

Can someone play without a phone?

Yes. Before the draw, any player can tap “Player without a phone” and add grandma or a child with their wishes, then play on their behalf.
